Good to know
Scholarships do not need to be repaid. KU offers about $13 million in scholarships to undergraduate students each year.
Grants are based on financial need and don't need to be repaid. To be considered for grants, file the FAFSA by the March 1 priority date.
Loans must be repaid, with interest. However, many educational loans carry a low interest rate.
Federal Work-Study positions are part-time jobs on campus for students with financial need.
We work hard at making KU affordable. Whether you're financing your children's education or advising them as they pay for college on their own, we can help.
Our tuition plan allows you to estimate the costs of your student's degree so you can budget for it. (The tuition rate of students who come here as new freshmen is frozen for four years. Transfer students pay the standard tuition rate.)
KU's free Student Money Management Services can advise your student on developing a personal budget and managing money.
We offer financial aid counseling for you and your student — by phone, e-mail, or in person. We'll help with FAFSA applications, scholarship searches, loans, and emergency funding.
To get the most aid, meet the deadline for KU admission and the priority date for filing the FAFSA.
Keep this in mind: Federal, state, and university funds may be limited.
